Michael Osei Asibey

Michael Osei Asibey is an Urban Development Planner and a Lecturer at the Department of Planning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), Ghana. Michael Osei Asibey holds a Ph.D. in Planning from the KNUST. Michael has varied experience in conducting research aimed at national development. He has over 10 years’ experience working in the fields of Environmental Management, Development Planning, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Planning/Institutional Development, Research and Capacity Building. He is skilled in conducting monitoring, evaluation and learning of development projects; baseline surveys; land use planning; research and feasibility studies in various sectors including water and sanitation. He is also well vexed in the application of quantitative and participatory qualitative approaches including participatory rural appraisal (PRA), etc. in the implementation of Demand Responsive Approach; and long-term sustainability of water and sanitation infrastructure in urban and rural settings.

Michael Osei Asibey has been part of substantial consultancy services and studies in development and spatial planning, sanitation and environmental-related studies. He has served as a member of the Data Quality Assessment Team, which provided Technical Service to Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) on the Ghana Compact of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA). He has consulted extensively for Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and Ministry of Roads and Transport. Other projects undertaken include among others: the monitoring and evaluation of project’s socio-economic impact of the Accra Urban Transport Project; feasibility study of the Ghana – Burkina Faso Railway Interconnection Project; Ghana’s Central Spine Railway Project; socioeconomic monitoring and evaluation and poverty reduction projects.

These experiences have resulted in him consulting for the Department of Urban Roads, Ministry of Railway Development, Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, SEND Ghana and Solidaridad West Africa, among others. He is currently a member of a consulting team (as the Institutional Development Expert) providing consultancy services for the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources on the “Sustainable Faecal Sludge Management Project”. In 2022, he assisted in writing and reviewing Ghana’s profile on the Monitoring and Evaluating Climate Communication and Education (MECCE) Project – Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM Report) for UNESCO. He is currently a member of a committee of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) responsible for undertaking a study on “Scoping gaps in current assessments of cities and climate change”.

  2. This was not our first time going to here. It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
